Ingredients (Chicken Topping): Chicken, Seaweed, Dried vegetable gelatin
Just an ordinary veggie soup with chicken topping? There is a catch!
My dog, Dewey loves veggies and fruit, just as much as other stuff. He is a really easy customer when it comes to cooking. On the other hand, my cat, Angel is an extreme food critique. Well, we are settling with store-bought cat food & supplement. But from time to time, I cook something that both Dewey and Angel can enjoy together.
Gelatin-like texture for Angel
You may be wondering why I cook chicken with seaweed and vegetable gelatin.
This is specifically for Angel as she seems to love the gelatin-like thick texture that holds ingredients together.
Basically, I’m trying to mimic canned food.
- I boil seaweed (which is mineral enriched) until it becomes soft and glue-like.
- Then I throw in dried vegetable gelatin to make it even thicker.
This will be Angel’s dinner after cooling down and adding an Omega-3 supplement.
Combining the topping and the rest for Dewey
For Dewey, I just add the chicken topping on the veggie soup. Obviously, dogs and cats dietary requirements are different. But, having a home-cooked item with fresh ingredients that can be for BOTH dogs & cats sometimes is a good idea, don’t you think?
